Home Sweet Home

In another 6 months anyway... LOL

This morning we attended our second (and LAST) McMillin release. We have successfully reserved lot 48, we've chosen our floorplan and elevation as well.

The next step is signing the purchase contract which we will do on September 29th. From there we begin the exciting process of choosing colors, flooring, upgrades, etc. We have selected the Dorado floorplan with a Tudor elevation. It's 4 bdrms. 2 1/2 baths - so all the kids will finally have their own bedrooms.

We were up early this morning to be out at the release before 9:30am. It took us until after 11am to finish up and from there we went out to breakfast to celebrate.

Mike's birthday is this week and in normal Doran fashion we are starting off the week-long birthday celebration with a new home purchase! LOL - This way when the expenses begin to mount for upgrades and what-not, I can just say that they are late birthday presents for Mike... ;o)

Kate is off to Leslie's for a birthday slumber party... Ethan and I are home with Maggie while Mike works this weekend to get ahead of the appraisal avalanche so that we can take off for the beach next weekend!

Updates on the Website, Family, etc.

Ethan and Kate were down with colds this week. I'm really proud of Ethan... he toughed it out and only missed two classes all week.

I'm a little irritated with the emphasis that is being put on PE, I can only assume that this is because of the muscle-bound, jock with the overblown ego we have in the Governor's office. Yep... that's right, I got political. I'm opinionated too.

(not much of a shock is it?) LOL

Anyway - notice the change at www.thedoranfamily.com ?

I switched back to a more traditional format instead of using the blog as the main page. Enjoy!

2 Weeks Down... :o)

The kids have survived the first two weeks of school (officially tomorrow). Kate seems to be quite happy with her teacher and we haven't seen Ethan this happy with school in a couple of years. He really likes his teachers, he has a few classes with Garett and they are on the same school team, Cal Poly.

The year has started off well. It really couldn't go any better than it has. There are some slight issues, for example PE is an issue at both schools. I think some of the expectations are ridiculous and some of the rules are silly as well. But, that's another complaint session altogether.

Instead, I prefer to focus on the positives and there are truly too many to count!
