The Latest Adventures...

Ok, that's an over-statement. We haven't really had any adventures. Ok, well, maybe a couple.

Kate turned 10 last week (April 14) - she had a pretty good birthday. Let's not kid around here, the kid made out like a bandit. Pretty typical, no one can resist a cute red-head.

Maggie is a little walking machine now, although she still looks like she just got off a very long off-shore fishing trip... she walks like a sailor on leave. ;o) It's got to be tough getting used to propelling yourself about the house. Last Saturday the kids stayed with Mike while I went to a special honor dinner for my mom. (She was invited into the Historical Honor Society, she'll be graduating with honors this fall.) Anyway, Mom and I came in (after enjoying a Tom Collins over at Mexicali's bar) and Maggie was walking back and forth through the livingroom - and much to our surprise she came towards the den and completely missed the doorway running smack into the doorjam instead. She looked shocked and dismayed, it actually took her several seconds to get over the surprise enough to start sobbing hysterically.

Sunday she came down with a nasty little cold. It took her most of the week to start getting over it, meanwhile, Ethan came down with it. He's missed three days of school now and when I called to clear his absence the receptionist told me that bronchitis and pnuemonia are running around now. Good grief. For some reason I figured that since spring was here and the weather was warming up that we were past all this sort of thing. Geez.

Mike is still working very late hours... last night he didnt come home until 11pm. I expect him to do the same tonight and he'll go into the office tomorrow (Saturday) for probably most of the day. Fortunately, we have a couple of family trips planned and maybe we'll get to spend some time with him then. ;o)
