Dire Straits

Ethan had his last guitar lesson until June. He came in practicing a Dire Straits solo and asked me if I had heard of Dire Straits (good grief!) I said, "Oh yes, I have, but I hear that Dire isn't that nice of a guy." It's a common thing around our house to make lame jokes like that. Ethan rolled his eyes and laughed.

There are usually very odd conversations going on around our house, especially at dinner time. I always regret not immediately running in and jotting them down or sitting at the table with a tape recorder or something.

Maggie is watching Blue's Clues and I've just realized that she has pulled off at least one of her shoes. Auugh!

Long Hours...

Spring break is over and everyone has returned to their normal routine. This past week seemed to just fly by.

Mike has been working really long hours. Last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday we all piled into his truck and went with him to do some out of town appraisals. The "new-ness" really hasn't worn off the truck yet - so the kids don't seem to mind having less leg room than they do in the Suburban. In the truck we listen to more of Mike and Ethan's music (Led Zeppelin, Ozzy, AC/DC, ZZ Top) and that's fun (sorta) - and very different than what we listen to in the Suburban typically (Harry Connick Jr. , Steve Tyrell, Hall and Oates, Billy Joel and some country).

Thursday we drove to Visalia, Lemoore, and Ivanhoe. I was really surprised at how pretty the neighborhoods were in Visalia. Very park-like, lots of big trees and the houses all had a cottage feel to them no matter how big they were. Not much to say about Ivanhoe or Lemoore, but I will say that the scenery is usually really pretty in the spring and this year is no different.

Friday we went to Mojave and Ridgecrest... very... well... desert. Not my cup of tea. Saturday we were back in Visalia, Exeter, and ended the day in Springville.

We like Springville, it's not far from Three Rivers, Lake Success (where we used to take the Pontoon Boat all the time) and it's on the way to Balch Park - where we camped for a weekend a few years ago... that was a weekend full of thunderstorms and mosquitos. LOL

So, it's come to this - if we want to spend time with Mike we do it on the road.

Could be worse...
