5.0 Earthquake Yesterday...

It made for an interesting afternoon...

Around 3:55 - the kids were doing homework, Mike was in the shower and I was feeding Maggie...

Oddly enough I actually heard the roof creak before I felt the rumble. It was a rough rumble but it really only lasted maybe 2 or 3 seconds. (Probably more like 2... it was very fast.)

Kate didn't even notice it. Ethan was in the kitchen and thus got the full effect of the pans swinging. Maggie, of course, was completely oblivious.

Funny thing, this quake was much closer (Caliente, about a 30 minute drive from us) then the one near Cambria, CA last December that did so much damage to Paso Robles, yet, the tremor we felt from December's quake lasted MUCH longer and seemed to roll much more than this one did.

I think Ethan enjoyed it...

He's strange like that.

He gets it from Mike.

On the Down Side...

Today marks the 1/2 way point for Mike's final class!!!!

He finishes up Tues. October 26th!

We've decided Maggie will go as a Ladybug for Halloween.
We had debated between frog, bumble bee, and Ladybug and decided on the Ladybug because it's a snuggly, warm costume with little feet in it. Perfect for our chilly Halloweens.

The kids are finishing up homework and we'll settle down to watch Gilmore Girls!

Lazy Sunday...

This Tuesday marks the halfway point for Mike's final class.

His last class will be Tuesday, Oct. 26!!!!

Yesterday he drove down to Encino, CA with a couple of other guys from class to do an appraisal for a class project. He is really enjoying it!

The kids are on the down side of their cold. Looks like they will both be going back to school tomorrow. Back to the grind.

So, we're having a lazy Sunday, Ethan is playing his guitar, Kate is watching "The Brady Bunch" marathon and Mike and I are just wandering around hanging out. We'll probably play cards later and settle down with some barbecued burgers this evening!

Funny thought:

"If Jimmy cracked corn and no one cared... why is there a song about him?"

Quickie Update...

Hello!

Quick Note From Amy:

First off... I know my (Amy's) picture is up there on the right. This actually
is a second blog under my main blog account my other blog is here... although it's mainly dedicated to my stuff over at my other website.

Those who know us best know that Mike rarely ever types anything -
he's been too busy lately anyway. I'm the one doing all the internet stuff
in the family - so I'll be doing 95% of the updating.

Quick family update:

Mike is now 1/4 the way through is final class. His application is being processed and we expect him to have a state exam date by the end of October! We're all really excited... and tired...

Ethan currently has a B in PreAlgebra, A in Social Science and we're waiting for the rest of the teachers to update!

Kate - ALL A's - One B in Math! We're thrilled!

The kids seem to be adjusting really well to their new schools. Kate recently went to a birthday party for a friend from Loudon, lots of her friends were there. We were afraid it might make her miss her old school (Loudon), but she was glad to see her friends and seems to be enjoying her new friends at her new school!

Maggie has her 2nd tooth - it came in 09/20/2004, bottom right central incisor.

Both Ethan and Kate are home from school today, looks like it's a little cold probably from the weather change recently. It's not easy trying to keep Maggie away from them and vice versa, the three of them do so well together.
